I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season and recovered from that last dreadful Vikings game.
A great big THANK YOU to everyone who gave contributions to the military troops in December. Minnesota WAABI collected and shipped off over 200 pounds of items to the Minnesota 4/23 Infantry battalion in Afghanastan
Season’s greetings to all of our WAABI leaders from the South Florida Chapter.
As we move into the holiday season, let us remember the spirit of Christmas and share the spirit with our friends and family. Many families are facing hard times due to unemployment or loss of their homes. Some of the Chapters of WAABI are working on projects to help the less fortunate at this Christmas time.
In the South Florida chapter we have the Angel tree to provide gifts to the children. The chapter sponsors the Lounge at Miami International Airport for the Military men and women traveling home or to their military assignments. We will also use some of the money to support Sky Ranch and for Scholarships for College students.
The chapter had the Christmas auction earlier this month which raised over $7,000 for our projects! This is the first time that we had the Christmas auction away from the Bacardi building, and it turned out to be a great deal of fun. We recruited new members, and along with our older members, we had a contingent of 15 college students. They added enthusiasm and a respectful touch to the auction and dinner.
Our chapters needs to grow and we need to have younger members come to our events and this was our way of starting off.
The theme of our auction is to help other people through our charities. This can be carried out in a fun and cheerful way.
Have a Happy Christmas Season with your family or a happy Hanukkah.
From the South Florida Chapter
David Countin,
President.

WAABI Doesn't Serve Teens!
July 25 - 28, 2009
The Federal Trade Commission just notified me that WAABI has been added to their Internet list of groups participating in We Don't Serve Teens. I hope our chapters will follow the suggestion in the latest Industry World to contact FTC for a supply of signs which can be placed at local merchants. What a great way to introduce WAABI to your local bars and restaurants and package stores! Bring membership forms with you!
